True Blessings Beyond Wealth
Have you ever wondered why some unbelievers seem more blessed or wealthy than believers? (Psalms 73:3-5, 16-17, Matthew 13:22, )
Often, the enemy gives them temporary blessings to distract them from God. When everything comes easily, there’s no drive to seek the true source of blessings — God Himself. (1 Timothy 6:9-10, 17-19)
“It is for the glory of God to conceal a matter…”
God glorifies Himself when we seek, work, and persevere. In the process, we reflect His character — showing excellence, diligence, and contentment even before we see the result. True blessings come without a hidden cost because Jesus already paid the price on the cross.
It’s important to shift our perspective on what success truly is.
We often measure success by how much money someone has or how well they perform in their career. But what if success looked different?
What if success is measured by how close we are to God? By our faithfulness, our obedience, and our daily walk with Him.
This is the kind of success we should pursue. Because when we do, we begin to discern what is truly from the Lord and what is not. We are no longer easily led astray by what looks good on the outside, but instead anchored in what is eternal. (Matthew 6:33, 1 Samuel 16:7, Joshua 1:8 )
True blessings come without a price. Jesus paid it all on the cross that day on Calvary.
Sometimes we see others turn to worldly solutions — protections, symbols, or rituals — that do have power and that do indeed work. They may provide temporary results, but always at a hidden cost.
God’s way is simple: pick up your cross, follow Him, and trust His hand over you. He wants a relationship, not shortcuts. (James 1:17, Romans 6:23, John 10:10, Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Matthew 16:24)
If God gave everything on a silver platter, how would we see His hand in our lives or prove His existence to others? Without struggle, there would be no growth. Without storms, there would be no testimony. If He made life easy for us, we would look no different than the world. Without struggle, we wouldn’t grow in character, strength, or faith. Storms shape us; they refine us.
Reflect on who you were two to three years ago compared to who you are now — the challenges you’ve faced, the perseverance you’ve built, the strength and character that have formed in you — these are blessings far greater than wealth. It's growth and a Christ-like character. (James 1:2-4, Romans 5:3-5, Hebrews 12:11)
When our definition of success changes, so does the way we live.
We begin to enjoy life in constant awareness of God’s presence — not just in moments, but daily. We are no longer chasing what the world calls success, but resting in who God is.
And when blessings do come, we will know without a doubt that they are from the Lord and not from any other source.
We were made by God and for God, which means that every person naturally longs for Him.
People don't recognise that all their longings — for success, wealth, or comfort — are shadows of the true satisfaction only He can provide. Until we recognize Him as our ultimate need, nothing else will ever satisfy. (Philippians 4:11-13, 1 Timothy 6:6, Ecclesiastes 3:11, Psalms 42:1-2)
Because true blessing is not found in what we have… but in Who we have. (John 6:35)
Reflection
Where am I seeking blessings from the wrong sources?
Am I content with what God has provided today, or am I measuring blessing by what others have?
How can I cultivate peace and trust in God, knowing that true blessings are spiritual, not just material?
Prayer
Lord, help me to seek You above all things. Teach me to glorify You in my work, my growth, and my perseverance. Remind me that true blessings are found in You, and let me be content and at peace while trusting Your timing. Amen.
